Why Do My Pores Still Look Visible Despite Using a Serum?

A serum can improve parts of your skincare routine without making your pores disappear. Pores are normal skin structures, and some remain visible even when your skin is healthy and well cared for.

Oiliness, congestion, and reduced skin firmness can make pores look more noticeable. The useful question is what is contributing to their appearance not how to erase them completely.

Visible does not always mean clogged

Look at the concern you want to address. Are you seeing recurring blackheads and uneven texture, or simply noticing normal pores in a close-up mirror?

A magnifying mirror and harsh light can make ordinary texture feel like a problem. Before changing your routine, consider whether you are comparing your skin with filtered photographs or unusually close views.

Choose a product for the actual concern

If congestion is involved, an appropriately formulated exfoliating product may be useful. Salicylic acid is one ingredient used to help unclog pores. Gentle cleansing and sun protection also have a place in caring for skin with noticeable pores.

If you are already using a serum, check its purpose. A hydration-focused serum and an exfoliating serum are not doing identical jobs, even if both come in similar bottles.

You may need a different choice, rather than an additional layer.

Avoid chasing a poreless finish

Repeated squeezing, harsh scrubbing, and increasing exfoliation whenever you notice texture can irritate the skin.

Keep the routine consistent enough to assess it. If you take photographs, use similar lighting and distance. A product should not be judged by whether it can recreate the effect of a filter.

Persistent acne or bothersome texture may need professional assessment.

A targeted Melissa step

Our Willow Bark Serum combines willow bark extract with salicylic acid and gluconolactone. It is the Melissa option to explore when congestion is part of your concern.

Use it as directed, with a suitable moisturiser, and check for overlapping exfoliating ingredients elsewhere in your routine. The aim is clearer-looking, more comfortable skin—not an impossible absence of pores.
