Our Story
Kalhana wrote of Kashmir in Rajatarangini: "There is art in its soil and the light of lotuses in its rivers."
Kashmir’s true treasures lie in the plants that have thrived here for centuries—each one carrying the wisdom of the land passed down through generations.

This is my great-grandmother. She sits reading scripture, mostly in Sharda Script—the first script in which Kashmiri was ever written. A language, a lineage, a connection to the past.
She knew this land and its language as if they were a part of her. She would gather wild herbs, select barks, and blend oils—remedies never written down, only remembered, from one generation to the next.
Melissa Alchemy was born from this wisdom.
The name Melissa comes from the word for honeybee—nature’s alchemist. Just as bees turn nectar into golden honey, we take Kashmir’s untouched botanicals and transform them into potent skincare, created to nourish, heal, and protect.
At Melissa Alchemy, we work with ethnobotanists, elders, and skilled formulators, merging ancestral knowledge with advanced skincare science. You will see this commitment reflected in every detail—even the way we write.
On our website, the ingredients are named in Sharda Script—keeping our roots visible, honouring the script that once carried the wisdom of this land.
It is a tribute—to my ancestors, to the land that raised me, and to those who believe beauty is not about fleeting trends, but about a deeper connection—to ourselves, our roots, and the nature that sustains us.
